[Solved] Could not find com.android.support:appcompat-v7:24.2.1
I was just digging through my folders and saw the same thing. Files in sdk/extras/android/m2repository/…/appcompat-v7 haven't been updated since November 2017. I'm thinking these are leftovers and Android Studio and Gradle manage those differently now. Trying to figure this out too…
Maven Repository: com.android.support » appcompat-v7 » 24.1.1

For anyone else having this problem, what finally solved it for me (using a CI tool that runs Ubuntu): brew install Caskroom/cask/android-sdk. export ANDROID_HOME='/usr/local/share/android-sdk'. Always use $ANDROID_HOME/tools/bin/sdkmanager for sdkmanager commands.
